About the Author

César González Gómez is the author of this blog, researcher and editor of the website OrigenesDelBeisbol.com.

He was born in Reynosa, Mexico, on August 5th, 1979. A SABR member since he was 16 years old.

His main research project right now is the investigation of the Origins of Mexican Baseball, which is a project approved by the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame. As a first finding of this work, he published on December 2006 the essay LOS BEISBOLISTAS SONORENSES EN CALIFORNIA EN 1867 Y EL MITO DEL MONTANA, that puts in evidence a myth about how baseball arrived to Sonora, Mexico, and discovers the images that, at this moment, are the earliest images of Mexican baseball known. This document was published in several newspapers and websites in Mexico.

In the spring of 2007, He published the essay A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON MEXICAN BASEBALL ORIGINS in the debut number of the academic journal Base Ball: A Journal of The Early Game.

Since February 2007 he has been exposing the preliminary results of his work in several cities of Mexico with his conference. Some places where he was been invited are Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad de Sonora, the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame, the Convention of Mexican Baseball, etc.

His investigation is not only about Mexican topics, since he is working in the study of how baseball was propagated through Latin America. An important part of this work is the genealogy of many pioneers of Latin American baseball trying to determine the factor that explains why they adopted baseball as a game to teach in their countries.
